Brainspotting therapy in Tennessee

What Is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a powerful, body-based therapy approach that helps individuals process and heal from difficult emotions, distressing experiences, and patterns that feel stuck. Brainspotting is based on the understanding that where we look can influence how we access and process emotional experiences held in the brain and body.

During a Brainspotting session, we work together to identify specific eye positions, called “brainspots,” that may connect to emotions, memories, sensations, or experiences that feel unresolved. With gentle guidance and a safe therapeutic relationship, Brainspotting allows your brain’s natural healing processes to help process what may feel difficult to put into words.

How Can Brainspotting Help?

Many people come to therapy feeling like they understand their struggles intellectually but still feel stuck emotionally or physically. Brainspotting can help access deeper emotional experiences and support the processing of distress that may continue to impact daily life.

Brainspotting may be helpful for:

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences
  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • Stress and nervous system dysregulation
  • Panic symptoms
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem and confidence struggles
  • Performance blocks
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or your emotions
  • Persistent emotional reactions that feel bigger than the current situation

How Does Brainspotting Work?

Brainspotting sessions are collaborative and paced according to your comfort level. Rather than repeatedly talking through every detail of a painful experience, Brainspotting allows you to gently focus on what is coming up while your brain processes the experience at its own pace.

You may notice:

  • Physical sensations in your body
  • Emotions or memories surfacing
  • Shifts in how you understand an experience
  • A decrease in the intensity of certain emotions over time

The goal is not to force yourself to relive painful experiences, but to create space for healing and integration.
